Hello, my name is Scott and I love exercise. I love exercise so much that I built a gym in my house.

Now I want to help you create your own perfect gym at home.

My Gym Story and How The Home Gym Happened

I have enjoyed exercise all my life. I joined my secondary school rugby team from first year, and have maintained a weekly 5k run since that time.

At age 17, I worked as a life guard, so exercise and healthy living have always been the norm for me.

My gym career really took off when I began university. From the summer of 2012, I have been hooked on picking up heavy things. I started weightlifting twice each week. After six months, I was in the Strathclyde gym at least every second day.

Over time, I visited several gyms across the UK and although there were many positive features to each, like many gym goers, I always had that dream of having a gym in my own home one day.

In the summer of 2017, I moved 200 miles away to the Highlands. And this is where opportunity and necessity met, I realised my dream of building my own home gym. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made and a journey I want to share with you, giving you the benefits of my experience and insights along the way.

Firstly, I got to work building a power rack out of 4×4 wood posts. I already had some pieces of equipment: an ab board (perfect for decline bench press), some dumbbells, foam roller etc.

Once the rack was built, we bought in a couple of quality budget barbells, a set of barbell weight plates, a cheap but sturdy adjustable bench, and suddenly it was a gym!
